Corsets – Six of the Best

If you are thinking of treating yourself to new corset, for a boudoir shoot, to wear under your wedding dress or just for a special occasion then there is a wide selection of types, styles and colours to choose from.

There is only one true corset – you’ll often see Basques or Bustier described as corsets but they are not. They may include an element of shaping and support but only a traditional corset will give you a real ‘hourglass’ shape.

A well-fitted corset will be comfortable to wear all day and will improve your posture but it is important to take your time when sizing. Most corsets are sized by bust and waist sizes with some going by dress size alone, some will ask your true measurements while others will suggest ordering ‘under-size’ – which makes it all more important to check each manufacturer’s details carefully before ordering; and don’t hesitate to exchange a corset which doesn’t feel exactly right.

Bridal Corsets

Ivory and white are traditional bridal colours and you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding the right shade to wear under your dress. Bear in mind that you will be wearing your corset most of the day so it is essential that it fits perfectly. Take you time with sizing and don’t forget to try it on under your wedding dress just to make sure they work well together.
